Hot Toys New Aquaman Figure

(DC/Warner Bros.)

DC Hot Toys Aquman

Sideshow Collectibles unveiled their latest round of DC display posable figures that are certain to appeal to just about any avid collector. This latest release is none other than the Atlantean King Arthur Curry better known as Aquaman, and no doubt just in time for DC/Warner Bros. upcoming hero team up Justice League. Aquaman (Jason Momoa) is also debuting his solo film late in 2018 (December 21st) right before the holidays.

The new 1/6 scale figure is a true likeness to Momoa in the film with the long wavy hair, stern expression, and awesome suit (not the typical green and orange as depicted in early versions of Aquaman comics and animated series). His weapon or “pitch fork” as Batman refers to it in the trailer is nothing short of bad-assery. By far the best depiction of the magical Trident weapon (associated with Neptune) that we’ve seen thus far. The figure comes with a solid looking stand, additional hands - poses and a Mother Box.

DC Hot Toys Aquman

Sideshow/Hot Toys will be releasing additional character figures for the film, but are a little slow coming. Batman is the only other Justice League film character that has officially debuted so far in celebration of the new film. In fact, Batman has two suits he will be wearing in the film (possibly more) and we’ve seen a few pictures floating around. The new Batman Tactical Suit complete with fearsome goggles is available for Pre-Order on the Sideshow/Hot Toys website along with Aquaman.

This years San Diego Comic Con featured the new Hot Toys 1/6 Scale figures in all of their glory. All six characters – Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman were on display at the Sideshow/Hot Toys booth. There were also figures of Queen Mera and the Darkseid minions called Parademon on display, both are appearing in the film.

DC Hot Toys Aquman

The only downside of the new brilliantly crafted and designed figures is the fact that we have to wait quite a while before we the public can get our hands on one of our very own for the amassing collection. In fact I’m a bit anxious to grab a few of these new JL versions to include in my own personal collection. No doubt we will have to wait until sometime next year and it ultimately depends on the order the others are released. Might be great Christmas presents for 2018…even to myself. is hosting their very own contest for the Justice League film giving a very lucky person the opportunity to win one of these new figures. Check out the Contest Page here.

Master Race Batman Statue by Andy Kubert

(DC Comics)

DC Comics Batman Statue by Andy Kubert

This Batman statue is by no means a new product by DC Comics but I recently received my personal collectible and had to dote on it a little. It pretty much goes without saying that Andy Kubert is one of my favorite artists, especially for the Batman character. Frank Miller and Andy Kubert have always produced exceptional material be it books and/or figures/statues.

This DC Comics porcelain statue is from the Dark Knight III designer series titled The Master Race Batman by Andy Kubert, and it screams toughness and serious badass-ery. What I mean is that the statue has terrific proportions with forceful exaggerated features such as the hands, arms and legs. The mixture of soft colors on the grey suit and yellow utility belt are well complimented by the black cape and stern expression of his face in the cowl. The pose certainly exhumes confidence with highly visible evidence as to why Batman is Gotham City’s protector.

DC Comics Batman Statue by Andy Kubert

The statue stands approximately 12 inches tall and is made of resin. I wish the cape was a little thicker but the rest of the statue is without a doubt beefy and solid as they come. This statue series is a limited run totaling around 5,200 pieces, and will most likely become extremely hard to find in the not so distant future. If you’re a serious collector I would not wait too long to get your Limited piece, which in my opinion is an absolute must.

The Batman Beyond Black and White statue is/was to a limited run piece that quickly became just about impossible to find. To this day they are still “Sold Out” and are rarely found, if at all, available for purchase.

The DC Comics Designer Series: Master Race Batman by Andy Kubert can be found online at several usual locations such as the WB Shop, Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth, Man of Action Figures, Midtown Comics, Amazon, EBay, and Overstock although many ALREADY say “Out of Stock”.

Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice Statues

(DC Entertainment)

Yahoo was the first to report the latest of DC Entertainment’s latest creation for the upcoming movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. DC Entertainment celebrates the upcoming movie be releasing high quality statues of the movies leading characters Batman played by Ben Affleck and Superman/Clark Kent played by Henry Cavill. The statues will be debuted at this years SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) for those lucky enough to attend and will be made available for the rest of us in January and March 2016 for approximately $150 each.

Each statue stands on a meshed Batman v Superman logo being used to promote Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and are approximately 12” tall. There are three different statues all sculpted by James Marsano.

First up is Superman/Clark Kent in his updated suit as seen the Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice teaser as well as the recent photos floating around online. You can see from the photo below that the improvements to the updated suit, although subtle, are more familiar with the iconic brighter colors as seen in comics and the original Superman movies. The emblem on his chest is a little more rounded with a bisecting swirl down the middle of the “S”. The belt design has been changed from an oval to a square and the banding on the arms, torso, and legs are more defined and separated/spread out. The cape is a cloth material.

Second is Batman in his signature Cape Crusader suit for capturing villains throughout Gotham City. The detail on these are amazing, you can see the texture of the suit as seen in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser and photos. The utility belt is colored in gold tint as well as the gloves (knuckles) and steel toed boots. The cape is a cloth material. The new logo seen here on the chest is very similar to the one seen in Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns graphic novel. Zach Snyder has revealed that the upcoming film is influenced by Miller’s version of the Caped Crusader. I’d say he and the crew have done an amazing job recreating the novel for live action film…from what we have seen so far.

Third is Batman in the Frank Miller’s DKR signature suit of Armor which also has been teased in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser. This suit is rumored to be outfitted with Kryptonite for facing off with the Man of Steel himself Superman. This statue unfortunately does not come with Kryptonite.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman.

Directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, the film is produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to open worldwide on March 25, 2016.

Release Date: January & March 2016

Kotobukiya - Batman Arkham Knight

The Dark Knight returns to Kotobukiya’s hit ARTFX+ lineup of superheroes and villains based on DC Comics characters, this time with BATMAN in his new armored costume from the Batman: Arkham Knight game.  The 2015 installment is the fourth in the Batman: Arkham series and takes the Caped Crusader to a whole new level with a heavily armored look fully realized in this highly detailed 1/10th presentation.  Batman relentlessly hunts for the criminals attacking Gotham City (led by Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight), and to do that must break down a few doors.  Sculpted by M.I.C., the 10 inches long (1/10th scale) Dark Knight is captured in mid-leap as he flies through the air in a dynamic pose that’s sure to catch any collector’s eye!  Every detail of his new armor is complete down to the heavy plating, segmented joints, the tread on his boots, the weight of his new cape, and of course Batman’s traditional scowl under his pointed cowl.

A first for the ARTFX+ series, Batman comes with a new modular base system that lets you customize your display with a wide range of options; display Batman breaking through a wall, vaulting over rubble, or in the middle of delivering a flying side kick!  With multiple square and rectangular pieces plus a broken window, metal grate, and joint parts this set is all about building your own diorama base.  Even better, you can really craft your own unique display by combining Batman’s architectural elements with those of his arch-rival the Arkham Knight (sold separately) and show off the two fighting in a rich and complex Gotham City environment!  Lastly, as a special bonus every bullet hole in the walls of the diorama is approximately 4mm in diameter so it can also display Frame Arms model kits or Modeling Support Goods along with making it the perfect environmental display for other figures or ARTFX+ statues in your collection.

Warner Premiere, Warner Bros Digital Distribution, and DC Comics produced semi-animated adaptations of several of the Black and White short stories and released them as motion comics. The motion comics were produced and directed by Ian Kirby and feature an original musical score by composer Adam Fulton and voice-actors, such as Michael Richard Dobson as the voice of Batman, The Joker, Thomas Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth, John Fitzgerald as Commissioner Gordon and Two-Face, Janyse Jaud as Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Martha Wayne and Joseph May as Superman. I personally have purchased three of these statues and have my eye on a few more. The quality and level of detail portrayed in each and every one of these statues is tremendous. Both the artist and sculptor have joined together to capture their unique interpretation of Gothom City's Dark Knight.
